Iran is not a superpower. It does not have the world’s largest economy. It does not have nuclear weapons. It is under sanctions. It is isolated. It has been targeted by the West for decades. And yet, in a matter of days, Iran brought the global economy to its knees.
The head of the International Energy Agency said it clearly: the global economy faces a “major, major threat” because of the Iran war. No country will be immune. The crisis has had a worse impact on oil than the two oil shocks of the 1970s combined. It has had a worse effect on gas than the Russia-Ukraine war. Oil prices are soaring. Inflation is ripping through every economy. Stock markets are panicking. And the vital arteries of the global economy, petrochemicals, fertilizers, sulfur, helium, are all interrupted.
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. That single action cut off 11 million barrels of oil per day from the global market. More than the two major oil shocks of the 1970s put together. Gas supplies dropped by 140 billion cubic meters, almost twice what was lost after Russia invaded Ukraine. Forty energy assets in nine countries across the region are severely damaged. The International Energy Agency released 400 million barrels of oil to try to stabilize the markets. The most oil they have ever released in history. And it is still not enough.
America, the so-called superpower, is threatening to obliterate Iran’s power plants if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened within 48 hours. Donald Trump is under pressure at home because oil prices are destroying the economy. Iran responded by saying it will strike U.S. and Israeli energy infrastructure if they attack. And the whole world is watching, terrified, because they know what happens if this continues. Recession. Inflation. Economic collapse.
This is one country. One Muslim country. Not even the strongest, not even close. Iran does not have the wealth of Saudi Arabia. It does not have the population of Pakistan or Indonesia. It does not have the military of Turkey or Egypt. And yet it has brought the global economy to a standstill in days.
Now imagine a Khilafah; Imagine a unified Islamic state that controls the oil and gas of the Gulf, the Caspian, Libya, and Algeria. Imagine a state that has a population of 1.8 billion people, spanning continents, with resources the world cannot function without.
Imagine a state with the combined armies of Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, and Iran, all under one commander. Imagine a state that controls the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal, the Bab al-Mandab, and the trade routes that connect Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The world would have no choice but to listen. The world would have no choice but to respect Muslim life, land and Muslim dignity. Because the cost of not doing so would be the collapse of the global economy overnight.
Iran alone cut 11 million barrels of oil per day. The Khilafah would control over 60% of the world’s proven oil reserves. Iran alone disrupted gas supplies worse than the Russia-Ukraine war. The Khilafah would control the largest natural gas reserves on earth. Iran alone caused stock markets to panic and governments to scramble. The Khilafah would have the economic leverage to reshape the entire global order.
The world depends on Muslim lands for energy. The world depends on Muslim regions for trade routes. The world depends on the resources that Allah placed in our territories. And right now, those resources are controlled by weak, divided nation-states that serve foreign powers instead of the Ummah. But if those resources were united under a single banner, under a single Islamic authority, the balance of power would shift immediately.
Allah says in the Quran: وَأَعِدُّوا۟ لَهُم مَّا ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍۢ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ ٱللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ ٦٠ “Prepare against them what you ˹believers˺ can of ˹military˺ power and cavalry to deter Allah’s enemies and your enemies as well as other enemies unknown to you but known to Allah. Whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be paid to you in full and you will not be wronged.”.
Power is not just military. Power is economic. Power is control over resources. Power is the ability to make the world think twice before attacking you because they know the cost will be too high.
Iran showed us what one country can do. The Khilafah would multiply that power by a hundred. The West knows this. This is why they destroyed the Ottoman Khilafah in 1924. This is why they divided the Muslim world into over fifty nation-states. This is why they draw borders, install puppet rulers, and ensure that Muslims never unite again. Because they know that a united Muslim world would be unstoppable.
The Khilafah is the shield that protects Muslim interests. It is the power that forces the world to respect Muslims, not out of kindness, but out of necessity. Right now, Muslim countries have all the resources but no unity. Saudi Arabia has oil. Pakistan has nuclear weapons. Turkey has a powerful military. Egypt controls the Suez Canal. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population. Iran just proved it can disrupt the global economy. But all of these strengths are scattered. All of these assets are controlled by separate governments with separate interests. And because they are divided, they are weak.
The Khilafah would bring all of this together. One state. One leadership. One strategy. And the moment that happens, the world changes. Palestine would be liberated because the Khilafah would have the power to destroy Israel. Al-Aqsa would be protected because the Khilafah would have the military and economic strength to defend it. The Uyghurs would be freed because China would face consequences it cannot afford. Muslims would no longer be humiliated because the Khilafah would have leverage.
The global economy is in crisis because of Iran. One country. Now imagine what would happen if the Ummah united. Imagine if every trade route, every oil field, every gas reserve, every strategic waterway under Muslim control was managed by a single Islamic authority that prioritized the interests of Muslims over the interests of the West.
The world would have no choice but to negotiate. The world would have no choice but to stop the genocide in Gaza, stop the attacks on Al-Aqsa, stop the occupation of Muslim lands. Because the cost of continuing would be economic collapse.
This is why the work for the Khilafah is not just religious. It is strategic. It is the only way Muslims will ever have real power in the world. Not power to oppress others, but power to defend ourselves. Power to protect our people. Power to ensure that Muslim blood is not cheap, that Muslim land is not occupied, and that Muslim dignity is not trampled.
Allah promises: وَلَيَنصُرَنَّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُۥٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَقَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ “Allah will certainly help those who stand up for Him. Allah is truly All-Powerful, Almighty.”
We support Allah by working for His deen. By organizing for the Khilafah. By rejecting the systems that keep us weak and divided.
Iran just showed the world what one Muslim country can do. The lesson is clear. Unity is power. The Khilafah is the answer. And the sooner we work toward it, the sooner the Ummah will rise again.
